Signature Zinfandel Gets Rave Review:

"I'm not going to claim that Zinfandel is the perfect red wine, but when it's made right and drunk within five or six years of bottling, it's darned close..." |

ZINS OF OUR FATHERS
By: Alan Richman
"Not long ago I was in a restaurant in Brooklyn and a bartender recommended GustavoThrace 2002 Signature Zinfandel. I'd never heard of it, but I later learned it was a joint venture by Gustavo Brambila and Thrace Bromberger. It was a near perfect wine, with the sweet fragrance of oak and cherries. The soft qualities that come from aging were perfectly expressed, and the wine's elegance made me think of a bridge between Pinot Noir and Cabernet." |

Bronwen's Cheese Selection:
Here is our cheese selection to go with the 2002 GustavoThrace Signature Zinfandel,
" Dry red wines are difficult partners for cheeses. However, something relatively mild with low salt would be a good partner for the GT Zinfandel. Try it with a young Comte from the Jura, or Ticklemore goat's cheese from Devon."

Zinful Cranberry-Orange Relish
We made this delicious recipe with the 2002 GustavoThrace Signature Zinfandel:
Ingredients:
1 bag of fresh cranberries
2.5 cups of filtered water
1 big fat orange
1.5 cups of natural cane sugar
.5 bottle of zinfandel
Pour a half a bottle of zinfandel into a saucepan and reduce to about a third of its original volume. Add two and half cups of water and bring to a boil. Squeeze all the juice from the orange and a little zest from the peel into the mixture. Next, add the sugar and stir until dissolved.
Wash the cranberries and pick out any unsightly berries. Add them to the saucepan mixture and simmer on med-hi until they pop [about 8-10 minutes] then remove from heat and and let cool. Pour into glass serving dish and refrigerate for at least 20 minutes. I use an orange peel garnish to let dinner guests know the difference between it and the REGULAR cranberry sauce!

Taste Napa Valley
The Signature Zinfandel was produced from Old Vines off the Nichelini Ranch. This wine was aged in French oak barrels rather than American. When you smell the wine it just screams "I am Zinfandel" with bright fruit, exotic spices and rich plum quality. The wine is earthy but the very ripe fruit has been beautifully balanced by the oak and tannins. Enjoy this wine with braised foods, ribs and Italian foods.
